My vision for my position: For graduate students to become active members in SDSCA, they need to see a benefit from being part of the organization. They have opportunities to be part of many professional organizations (e.g., ACA, ASCA, SDCA, SDSCA, Chi Sigma Iota); however, the very nature of being a student means funds are limited. My vision for graduate students is to show them why SDSCA will benefit them and help them grow as future school counselors. In the coming year, I will be working with the board of directors to incorporate additional ways SDSCA can be a benefit to our graduate students. Graduate students are the future of SDSCA. If we want them to be members as professional counselors, we need them to become members while still in school.
