Presidents and President-Elects from 49 states take part in four days of training
Andrée Johnson, President of the South Dakota School Counseling Association, and Shelley Lammers, President-elect participated in the American School Counselor Association’s 35th annual summer Leadership Development Institute. The four-day institute held July 20-23, 2005 in Waikiki, Hawaii, provided training to leaders of school counselor associations from across the country. Attendees participated in sessions on:
• Association management;
• How to be an effective leader;
• Working with the media; and
• How to utilize ASCA’s resources.
“The 2005 state leaders are to be commended for their commitment to their state associations and the school counseling profession,” said Judy Bowers, ASCA’s 2004-05 president. “The Leadership Development Institute is an important professional development activity that provides state leaders with the tools necessary to successfully run a statewide membership organization.”
LDI is held annually in July. Costs to attend the conference are split between the state and national association.
