2006 SDCA CONFERENCE - "HATS OFF TO HELPING!"
Have you registered yet for the 2006 SDCA Conference which will be held April 20-22 in Pierre? If not, I would encourage you to do so today.
This year's conference boasts two outstanding preconference workshops which will be held on Thursday, April 20.
The SDCA Conference itself will kick off at 5 PM with Area of Specialty suppers for SDSCA, SDMHCA, SDACES, and SDECCA. This supper is included as part of your conference registration and will serve as an excellent time to network with others in your specialty area and find out more about the work of that entity.
Friday will bring a Fun Run/Walk in the morning and Content Sessions throughout the day. A complete listing and description of each session is available on the SDCA website under the CONFERENCE link. We'll recognize our graduate student members at the Fri. luncheon (also included in your registration). The exhibit area will be open all day on Fri. and graduate students will present their Poster Presentations at the morning and afternoon breaks.
Fri. evening SDCA will hold its annual Awards Banquet accompanied by a live and silent auction. Look for a new auction format this year that should make it fun and easy for all participants to have a chance to win!
Saturday, our Government Relations Committee members will host a legislative update with information on legislation at the state and national level.
The conference will close Sat. with a closing keynote entitled BE HATITUDES! Incoming American Counseling Association President Marie Wakefield will present the keynote. Marie is a dynamic and engaging presenter and her keynote message will send you off revitalized to continuing doing the good work you do!
SDCA is holding a block of rooms at the Ramkota Inn at a reduced rate for attendees of $73 per night. This room block will only be held at this rate until March 20 so get your reservations made today by calling 605-224-6877. Be sure to mention being with SDCA to receive this rate.
Graduate credit through Northern State University will be available for those attending a minimum of 15 contact hours of programming. (You need to attend one of the preconferences in order to get in the 15 hours.) A follow-up reflection paper is required.
Continuing Education will also be available through the National Board for Certified Counselors (which can be used for South Dakota LPC license renewal) and through the SD Board of Social Work Examiners. Up to 17.5 contact hours are available.
