UPCOMING ELECTION
Voting will take place at the upcoming SDCA conference in Pierre for three positions on the SDSCA Board of Directors. Each candidate is asked to submit a brief statement about their reasons for seeking their position on the board.
PRESIDENT - ELECT CANDIDATE
Jenny Noteboom is the elementary school counselor in the Wagner Community School District. She is currently serving as the advocacy chairperson for SDSCA. Her reasons for seeking election are: "I am running for President-Elect because I feel it is important to give of our time and talent to causes that are important to us. Promoting the school counseling profession is not just important to me, as a school counselor, but to me, as a parent. School counselors help kids, and I can't think of a more worthy focus of my energy."
SECONDAY VICE PRESIDENT CANDIDATE
Anthony Raaphorst is the new counselor in Kadoka, SD. He has served as a moderator for SDCA for the past two years. His reasons for seeking election are: "During graduate school, I noticed that being involved with SDCA enhanced my experiences and understanding of being a counselor. I am seeking the position of Secondary Vice President because I want to be active with the SDSCA. As a newcomer to our profession, I have come across some areas in which I think SDSCA could provide information for new counselors. It is my objective to further the SDSCA and help enrich the careers of other school counselors.
We still are seeking a candidate for the elementary vice president position. I would like to encourage you to become involved on the SDSCA Board. It is a very rewarding experience and I am looking forward to a fun and exciting year. If you are interested in the Elementary Vice President position please e-mail me at michelle.lammers@k12.sd.us.
